Eason Spelling Bee
The two sixth classes entered the Eason Spelling Bee this year. We were allowed to enter one representative from the school to take part in the County Final. After a spelling bee between the two classes the final speller left standing was Hannah Doherty Greene.
Congratulations Hannah !
The County Final will take place in Athy on Tuesday 9th April.
Fifth classes are already preparing to take part in the National Childrens’ Choir on May 16th.
Violin classes are up and running and there’s a great air of confidence from all the girls this year.
Our building project is progressing very well. The design team has been appointed. The Team visited the school on Thursday 20th September to carry out a site inspection. They hope to have a design drawn up by early January 2013. The plan is to refurbish the present building and build an extension comprising 10 mainstream classrooms. This would give us accommodation for 24 mainstream classes. We currently have 16. I will keep you up to date on developments.
Credit Union Quiz
Sixth class entered five teams in the first round of the Credit Union Quiz in Coill Dubh on 4th February. All of our teams showed off their general knowledge by answering a great array of questions on the night. One of our teams made it through to the ‘Chapter’ Level of the Credit Union Quiz after a nerve wracking two rounds of tie breaker questions. Keelin, Maebh, Amy, and Hannah represented Scoil Bhríde in Pipers Hill N.S on Sunday 2nd March at chapter level.
The team did really well to finish in the top four.
Well done to all our quizzers!
The Winter/Spring league for 5th and 6th classes is resuming again after an extended break due to inclement weather in January, Cross Country training and Confirmation preparations.
The Cumann na mBunscoil Senior League kicks off after the Easter holidays with a home match against Naas. Other teams in the group are Kill, Prosperous and Maynooth.

A panel of girls from 5th and 6th classes are training in preparation for the Kildare Primary Schools Cross Country competition which takes place on Thursday 21st March in Hawkfield G.A.A. grounds, Newbridge. Best of luck to all the runners!
Basketball Blitz 2013
On Wednesday the 13th March, a panel of 12 girls from 6th class travelled to Kilcullen Community Centre to participate in the Cumann na mBunscoil Basketball Blitz. The opening match was against Monasterevin where Clane were victorious. The next match was against Scoil Bhríde Naas. The girls won this game and advanced to the next stage. Clane were successful again in the semi-final against Kilcullen and they proceeded to the final. Clane met a very strong Scoil Uí Rígh, Naas team in the final. Clane played really well and worked very hard, but unfortunately Naas proved to be the stronger team.
Both the girls and their coaches Ms. Devitt, Ms. McNelis and Ms. Cronin were delighted to have made it to the final. The girl's hard work was rewarded with fully deserved runner up medals. The girls will soon take part in a school basketball league in Scoil Bhríde. The girls are really looking forward to these games. The coaches are very proud of the team's commitment, dedication and progression since the beginning of the year. We would also like to thank Mrs. Costello and Ms. Breen for their support of Basketball in Scoil Bhríde.
